Founded in 1910, Camp Wawenock's 95 acres are located 25 miles from Portland on Maine's second largest lake. Enrollment is limited to 120 girls, 7 to 16 years of age who come from over 20 states and several countries.
Wawenock provides competent and caring staff, many of whom have grown up at Camp and return summer after summer.

Camp Wawenock has been under the continuous direction of educators since 1910. The current Camp Directors are June Gray, Patricia Smith and Andrew & Catriona Sangster. June Gray, has been at Wawenock since 1956. She did graduate work in Education and taught in public and private schools and at the college level. Patricia Smith, came to Wawenock in 1968. She was on the Bates College faculty for 10 years and did her graduate work at Boston University. Andrew has a degree in Physical Therapy and has worked as a full-time camp professional since 1992. Catriona holds her Masters in Education and taught at the High School level before becoming a full-time camp professional in 1996. All four Directors make their home at Wawenock, providing a year-round relationship with Camp. The Directors know each girl personally and follow her development from one summer to the next.
